  • The Kolb Foundation and the Kolb Society of Fellows, founded through a bequest by Katherine Kolb Paanakker, is committed to graduate education in academic disciplines concerned with the cultures of ancient pre-industrial and modern non-industrial peoples of the world, with a particular focus on archaeology.

  • The Kolb Society of Fellows is a non-profit organization providing fellowships for studies in academic disciplines related to the mission of the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology.
  • Each year the Kolb Society of Fellows sponsors a fall and spring colloquium. The fall colloquium is accompanied by a dinner for the fellows. The late Peter Paanakker, the principal benefactor of the Kolb Society, is pictured here attending the dinner in 1998.

Senior Fellow Thomas F. Tartaron won the AIA Wiseman Book Award for the best Archaeological book of 2015 presented at the 2016 joint AIA/SCS Annual Meeting in San Fransisco, CA, for Maritime Networks in the Mycenaean World.

Fellow Stephannie Mulder won the Syrian Studies Association Book Award and the Grand Prize at the University of Texas, Austin, Hamilton Book Awards for The Shrines of the 'Alids in Medieval Syria; Sunnis, Shi'is, and the Architecture of Coesistence.
